Some power chairs go up to 12 miles an hour, while some go about 4 miles an hour. If a person uses a manual wheelchair, it only goes as fast as the person can push it.
Service dogs are working animals, and sometimes will have harnesses or vests that denote their status. When they are “in harness”, they are officially working, and cannot be petted because it distracts them, keeping them from working, which can endanger their person. When they don’t have their harness or vest on, they are generally are not working, and can be petted. Always ask before petting a service animal.
Then one morning as I was preparing to leave for my job, I was surprised to see that my truck was wiped out on the driver’s side–a hit and run. I arranged a ride to work. When I started my shift, the supervisor came down with a bunch of pink slip layoff orders. My temporary assignment had expired. I was stunned.
